We collect only what Verdance needs to work. We never sell your data and never show ads. You can delete your account, and everything in it, at any time.
Your name and email address, plus a profile photo, church and bio if you choose to add them. The content you create: flashcard sets, cards, notes, quizzes and their results, study plans, uploaded photos and PDFs, and your AI conversations. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from them. If you enable notifications, we store a push token for your device.
Only to run Verdance: to sync your study across devices, schedule your reviews, show your streak and progress to the friends you add, run the friends leaderboard and referral rewards, and send the notifications you turned on. We never sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
Your name, photo and bio are visible to people who search for you or are your friends. Sets you mark as public can be viewed by other users; private sets are visible only to you. You can block any user: blocking removes them from your friends, and they can no longer open your profile or send you friend requests.
You can report a user from their profile. A report includes your account, the reported account, the reason you chose and any note you write. We use it only to review the report and act on it, and we keep it as a record of that review.
Our AI features (Ask, AI quiz and flashcard generation) send content to third-party AI providers only after you have read an in-app notice and agreed. What is sent: the questions and text you type, and any photo or PDF you attach. Who receives it: text goes to OpenRouter, which passes it to the company that runs the AI model (currently Google, or OpenAI as a backup), or to Anthropic (Claude); photos and PDFs go to Anthropic. They use it only to produce your answer. You can turn the AI helper off in Settings at any time, and nothing is sent until you agree again.
Apple and Google for sign-in and in-app payments; RevenueCat to manage subscriptions; Google Firebase for push notifications and crash reports; PostHog for anonymous usage statistics; OpenRouter (with Google and OpenAI models) and Anthropic for AI features. We share data with them only as needed to provide these features. You can turn off Share usage data in Settings to stop usage statistics and crash reports.
On our own servers in the European Union (Hetzner, Germany), including the photos and PDFs you upload. Data travels over an encrypted connection (TLS). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
Delete your account in Settings → Delete account and your data and files are removed right away. On the Free plan, uploaded photos and PDFs are deleted 30 days after upload; on a paid plan they are kept until you delete them. You can also request deletion on our account deletion page.
